Last night Ernie and I went by our friend Sasha's to pick up some mythical Girl Scout Cookies. Well, Sasha says they do exist but somehow were in Dick's car instead of their house. I told her she could have just asked us over and not lured us with Girl Scout Cookies because we had a delightful time. We shared a glass of wine, admired her girls, talked about old days and college towns and the people we are and the people we were. Lovely.
We headed home and found a grumpy Owen decorating a cereal box as a book report. Sometimes I just don't understand his school projects but whatever. I started cooking dinner and Leo minecrafted busily in the background complaining all the while that the sound of the chicken sizzling was too loud for his Skype calls and WHEN will he get his OWN computer because then everything in life will be much better for all of us. We laughed at him and told him the more he asked the longer it would be.
Then Owen decided he should call our friend Val. Val was on the WILL cooking show the other night and she ROCKED. She was fantastic. Owen figured he should tell her how great she was. I swear to God I would have died rather than do that when I was his age. So I got her phone number out and he called her and congratulated her. I swear I don't know where he comes from. I told him I thought that probably made her feel really good and he nodded and said, "yeah, she sounded like you do when you're happy." My sweet pea.
We ate dinner (Owen actually liked the asparagus...SCORE...of course raw only but that's fine) and watched some bad tv. The boys headed up to bed. I listened as Ernie said good night to him and Leo's giggles just cascaded down the stairs. I swear there is nothing better than Leo's laugh. He was an incredibly happy, giggly baby (except when he was hungry...YIKES) and when I hear him laugh I just see his big old round baby head laughing. Later he came downstairs for something and before he went up I screeched, "WAIT...you forgot to kiss me! Remember? That's the most important part of the day." He came over to kiss me and said, "no, it's not" and I screamed in horror right in his face and he couldn't stop laughing. He tried to tell me minecraft was more important and I screamed again and he laughed and laughed.
A good night.
Now.....question for the day. What should I do with turnips? They're beautiful and from our beloved farmer Greg...but honestly...I really don't know what to do with them.
