1. I shared our shopping list with the guys so they can add to it when there is something they need. Leo continues to just verbally tell us...when I tell him to add it to the list he says he'll try to remember. Owen, on the other hand, takes full advantage of it. These are the types of things Owen adds....
2. As always, at least he entertains me. One of his projects over vacation was coming up with cartoon cover bands. For instance, Crowded Mouse would do all Crowded House songs in Mickey Mouse voices. Or Foghorn Leghat...Yosemite Cash, Salt n Pepé....man, I can't remember the others....suffice to say a good amount of time was spent in hysterics. Crowded Mouse remains my favorite.
3. Owen sorted through a box of old pictures and I found a few I didn't remember. My sister Debbie in her room with her beloved blue roses wallpaper. My two sisters in very Polly Voelkl dresses...and a newspaper clipping with a picture of my mother in a Charles Percy hat. Oh my.
4. My friend Karen Ruhlder took this picture of the outside of our house. The hydrangea bush is beyond lush. I commented to Ernie that the flowers are weighting it down so much that they looked like pendulous breasts. Evidently this made him less fond of the hydrangea. Oh well.
5. Yesterday, as I was sitting at work, this picture pops up in my messages:
Yup. My beloved Annette and Walter Salas-Humara. I quickly asked when it was from and she said, "now!" I said "tell him one of our best ever shows" but then I had to go into my meeting. It wasn't until bedtime that I got a chance to text her again and ask her about it.
She said, "This was at my job today. You see, I really wanted to come to your house but couldn't." So today toward the end of my shift he comes in & I say "what is your name?" and he says "Walter" & I say " I KNOW!" Ha. He says I waited on him before. He stayed over at my friend's house. He was so cute & funny & made us take that selfie. He said he had a great time at your house. It was lovely. He was there with a guy named Steve. I played that Silos' cd & made them laugh."
I love that woman so much. I could just see her asking him his name and then saying, "I KNOW!" In fact I had told Walter the story of when I was utterly incapacitated and couldn't speak to Ian Hunter...how I had become 17 and Annette had taken pictures and insisted he liked us best...LOL. I adore that woman. I swear, every time I woke up in the night I thought of that picture and it just made me happy. Thanks Annette (and Walter). I love you!
