I'd say it's been a hell of a week but I think I've said that several weeks running. It's been a super busy week, but of course that's good, just tiring sometimes. In BEFORE times, as a friend refers to it, this would be a prime moment to head to the Esquire, have a drink and chat to friends. We are making do though, I'm finishing up some work while we sit in front of our first fire of the season.
Hopefully, we are past our COVID scare and my sister has a scheduled date for surgery in a few weeks, so life goes on.
Love to you all.
Chicken drumsticks with cornstarch and Penzey's sweet curry powder.
The next night I did something I haven't done in eons and roasted some potatoes. It made me miss my friend Gisela terribly. DAMN they were good...just a little olive oil, thyme and salt and pepper. Simple pleasures.
We had them with maple/mustard chicken thighs and peas. We're going through some kind of pea renaissance. I started tossing them with our asparagus in the spring and I realized I'd forgotten how damn good a simple little pea can be.
The next day Ernie made me eggs with leftover peas and carrots. He served it to me and told me it was a deconstructed omelet. I think we've been watching too many cooking shows.
Onward.
